8.0 The Board
of Parish Education
8.1 Membership. This board
shall consist of a minimum of 5 voting members. The Sunday School
Superintendent, the VBS
Director, the Church Librarian, the Cradle Roll
Director, and the Pastors and/or Director of Christian Education will serve
as non-voting advisory members.
8.2 Objectives. The Board of
Parish Education is to administer and promote the parish Sunday School
Program, the
Vacation
Bible School, the Cradle Roll ministry, the church
library, and all non-Parish School educational opportunities.
8.3
Responsibilities: In order to
carry out these objectives the Board of Parish Education shall:
8.3.1 Administer
the non-Parish School educational ministries.
8.3.2 Seek to enroll every member of the
congregation, especially the children, in one of the congregation's
educational
programs.
8.3.3 Formulate
policies governing each non-Parish School educational ministry, as
necessary.
8.3.4 Encourage volunteer teachers and
staff in their work by word, prayer and action through public recognition.
8.3.5 Assist when
necessary each educational ministry leader in the operation of their
programs.
8.3.6 Seek and
secure replacement volunteers, staff and teachers as needed.
8.3.7 Annually appoint a Sunday School
Superintendent to administer a year-round Sunday School Program. Assist the
Superintendent in recruiting and training staff for the Sunday School and
provide needed materials in consultation with the
Superintendent.
8.3.8 Annually
appoint a Vacation Bible School Director to administer a summer VBS program.
8.3.9 Annually appoint a Cradle Roll
Director to maintain contact with children from Baptism to Sunday School
age.
8.3.10 Annually
appoint and assist a Church Librarian.
8.3.11 Coordinate weekly opportunities for
Adult Bible Study in the congregation by providing rooms, leaders, and
materials.
8.3.12 Develop and
maintain job descriptions for volunteer and staff positions. |
